...She made learning the fundamentals simple and at a relaxed pace, building off of the make up and tools I already own and using my inspiration photos to create my favorite look. She’s professional and great at responding so that makes things much easier and put me completely at ease, we all know how stressful it is trying to get the right look for this momentous day! Jean asked me for photos of looks that I was going for and what tools and make up I had, that way I didn’t need to buy a ton of extra stuff; she’s considerate, accommodating and smart. We planned for 3 sessions in 3 weeks: 1) she applied and explained in detail a full face of makeup, 2) split my face 50/50 she did one side and I did the other, 3) she walked me through as I applied a full face. Following all COVID safety measures, she showed up glowing and beaming from behind a mask and outfitted with magical bags of makeup goodies. In the first lesson, she patiently walked me through what each product does and how it reacts to my complexion as she applied it, showed me tips about blending, waiting a certain amount of time to set something, applying lashes/mascara/eyeliner. It’s all about the tips to keep from caking, running, getting oily through the day. She used just a couple of her own products on me as I didn’t have them, she made budget friendly suggestions on items I desperately needed and ones I could do without. Nothing frivolous. Second lesson we did the 50/50 split which was very informative, educational and telling. She really is a master of her craft; she helped me angle my brush correctly, blend better with brushes and beauty blender, apply products in the correct areas- this is so important. This was the lesson I learned the most during, the side by side, you can really see the value of these one-on-one classes. The final lesson, she watched me apply a full face and only corrected me when I needed help, solidifying that her teachings and techniques are memorable and effective. Two weeks later, day of the wedding, I looked and felt beautiful in 87 degree heat at 5pm. Thank you, Jean, you made this possible."
